KKN UNY’s Promotes the Strengthening of Homestay Identity to Support the Gabugan Tourism Village

Sleman, September 13, 2026 — Students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) at Yogyakarta State University (UNY)in  Gabugan, Donokerto, Turi, Sleman, are helping to support the development of tourism potential through the Gabugan Homestay Identity program. This program is a form of collaboration between students and the community to strengthen the presence of homestays as supporting facilities for tourism activities in Gabugan Tourism Village.

The Gabugan Homestay Identity program was implemented by creating a physical identity for the homestays in the form of stickers. This activity was carried out in several stages, starting from data collection and verification of homestays, coordination with relevant parties, design development, production of the identifiers, to their handover to the homestay division for subsequent installation. The identifiers were designed with a visual concept that is uniform and informative to reinforce the character of the homestays while helping tourists recognize the available accommodation facilities in Gabugan.

This program produced physical identification for 64 homestays that have been registered in Padukuhan Gabugan. This initiative represents a collaboration between students and the community to support the development of local potential, particularly through the strengthening of tourism support facilities. This program is also aligned with SDG Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the provision of tourism support facilities on a local scale. The presence of these physical identifiers is expected to add value by creating a tourism environment that is more informative, easily recognizable, and possesses an increasingly strong identity.

Through the Gabugan Homestay Identity program, students are actively participating in developing the existing potential of the Gabugan hamlet community. This program not only creates a physical identity for the homestays but also forms part of a collective effort to strengthen tourism support facilities and support the sustainable development of the Gabugan Tourism Village.
